Autumn Term in Year 6
Year 6 is always a special year, and the autumn term is crammed with wonderful learning opportunities. Our main topic is World War II, from which much of our learning will branch out. We will explore why Britain had to go to war and how people coped with the German threat.
In English, we will be writing in a variety of genres, all linked to our World War II theme. This will give us the chance to develop our creativity while also building strong grammar, punctuation and vocabulary skills.
In Geography, we will be focusing on trade—learning more about our Earth and considering the journeys food makes before it reaches our plates.
In Science, we will be studying the human body, with a particular focus on the heart and how it works. In Maths, we will be concentrating on number—place value, the four operations and fractions. We are also excited to share our arithmetic scores with you as the term progresses.
