We are looking forward to the Summer term in Reception, where our topic will be 'Is it always sunny in Africa?'. We are so excited to welcome the children back after Easter break and get stuck into our new topic of learning where we will be exploring African instruments, music and dance, and revisiting our learning on beats and musical notation. This will be enhanced by the start of our 10 week Early Years music project, where an EYFS Music specialist will be coming in to class to enhance our music provision and teach new rhymes, songs and musical activities.
Our focus artist will be Andy Goldsworthy, and we will be looking at some of his natural transient art, and thinking about how it can inspire our own transient art in our outdoor area and beyond!
We will be continuing our work on the skills required to draw with accuracy and care, and will explore the illustrations in some of our favourite books, noticing fine details and techniques.
As a continuation of the taught skills in our phonic sessions, we will be learning how to create story maps, and using these to write our own stories and become authors!
We cannot wait to begin practising for our Sports Day, which will be held at the end of term! Our children have been enjoying collaborative games and friendship activities this term, and we are so excited to continue this in our Sports Day preparation.
This is our Reception Library- we love to visit the library each week. We can take a book home each week to share with our families at home to promote the love of reading.
The children's 'All About Me Boxes' will be a great way to get to know the children- we are looking forward to sharing them with each other! You can watch Mrs Evans and Miss Penny showing theirs on the 'Parent' Tab under 'Starting School'.
