Welcome to Year 4
Beech Class (Miss Heather)
Sycamore Class (Mr Couch)
Welcome to Year 4, Beech Class and Sycamore Class!
Welcome back to a new term! We hope you had a great Christmas break. Firstly, Mr Couch and Miss Heather would like to thank you for your enthusiasm you showed last term. We have got lots of lovely activities planned for our learning throughout the spring term where we will learning all about our topic of 'The Amazon Rainforest'. We'll be linking all of our writing, art and DT to this topic so prepare to be creative!
In Science, we will be learning all about living things and their habitats. Our P.E lessons will continue to be on a Tuesday afternoon and will include a mixture of tag rugby and dance. In computing, we will be expanding our knowledge on computer science by starting a unit on coding where we will use different variables to create games. Your R.E work last term was sensational and I know you will produce equally brilliant work this term studying Hinduism in your floor books. A busy term to get stuck into - we can't wait to see you all demonstrating our Sandy STARS!
We ended the half term with two DT days. We produced some fantastic work. In textiles we learnt about Zandra Rhodes and created a design on a piece of fabric with a stamp we made and used a simple running stitch to sew it together. On the second day, we linked in our topic and made roman catapults developing our construction skills!
We kickstarted our topic with a visit from a Roman soldier! We had an exciting day full of learning!
We have attached a list of Year 4 recommended reads for you to browse - there may be some titles on there that you fancy reading at home. Enjoy!
