The Big Friendly Read (7.10.16)

The Summer Reading Challenge is held in local libraries every year to encourage children aged between 4 and 11 to read six books during the long Summer holiday. Before the end of the last academic year two librarians from St. Austell library visited Sandy Hill Academy to share this year's Summer Reading Challenge which was inspired by the works of Roald Dahl.

Children received special rewards each time they finished a book and there was a certificate for everyone who completed the Challenge. The theme for the 2016 Summer Reading Challenge was The Big Friendly Read.

For the second year running Sandy Hill holds the proud title of having the most children complete the Summer Reading Challenge out of all of the local schools!
