Santa's workshop (15.12.17)

This week began with scooter skills run by Nick from Sustrain. Those children who participated learned new skills to stay safe whilst scootering and how to maintain their scooter. As a class we have been travelling to school far more actively since the beginning of term and we would like to thank all parents and carers for their support in our active travel initiative.
In English this week we retold the story of the Nativity. We strived to include lots of religious vocabulary as well as adjectives, adverbs and a range of openers and conjunctions to make our writing more interesting for the reader.
We have been learning about patterns and sequences in Maths. We identified and continued patterns, explaining how we knew what would come next. We also created some of our own colour and shape patterns.
We have been working hard on our Design Technology projects. Our hand puppets have been chosen and we have each selected a variety of decorations to add to make our puppets unique. We have begun sewing our puppets together and assembling the pieces on the front to create either an elf, santa, reindeer or snowman hand puppet.
Well done to all those children who completed elements of the optional homework project.
This week Mrs Hooper and the lunchtime supervisors celebrated exceptional behaviour in the dinner hall. We were very proud of the children in our class who were recognised for their good manners and behaviour in the dinner hall and playground.
Congratulations to the winners of a Christmas card competition run by Withiel WI. Evelyn won 1st place and received a £10 book token while Molly received second place and received a set of felt tip pens.
