Here at Sandy Hill, we believe our STARS values couldn't be more appropriate than in PE and sport. The children have regular opportunities to be Self-motivated, Thinkers, Aspirational, Resilient and Supportive in their sporting activities. Whether it be during the varied PE curriculum, an after school or lunchtime club or during play times, we aim to provide the children regular opportunities to be active and make healthy choices.
An Active Curriculum
One of the challenges of engaging the children in regular physical activity is applying these opportunities outside of regular PE lessons.
The teachers across the school are always looking for ways to make learning active. Opportunities for Active Maths or English lessons are regularly taken to extend and enhance learning. A great way of staying active too!
During this year, we are again working with Go Active, who are running lunchtime clubs and offering extra-curricular activities to our children.
KS1 Athletics Festival
The children had a great time representing the school in the first KS1 Athletics Festival of the year. During this event, the children worked in teams to participate in a range of activities involving jumping, throwing and moving.
Well done to our top Sandy athletes!
