Music

Welcome to the Sandy Hill Academy music blog. There will be regular updates and photographs about music that happens in the school. If your child is involved in any music related activities outside of school and you would like this to be included on the blog, please give details to the office and they will make sure that these are added to this site.

We are very lucky at Sandy Hill as there is always plenty of music happening. There are weekly guitar, violin and drum lessons and choir club.

On Monday 7th March 10 children from the choir will be part of a concert at the Hall for Cornwall called 'Ocean Commotion.'

On Tuesday 28th June 20 children from the choir will be involved in another concert at the Hall for Cornwall called 'Elements' and the children will be singing and dancing.

On Monday 7th March 10 choir children from Years 5 and 6 performed at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro as part of a massed choir of schools from the St Austell area. The children sang 13 songs from a show called Ocean Commotion. Their behaviour, confidence and performing skills were superb and they did a fantastic job of representing the school. These same children will be performing again at the Hall for Cornwall in June with 10 other children from the school.
28.4.16 This is a photograph of four children from year 2 taking part in their violin lesson provided by Mr Webley from The Cornwall Music Trust. They were learning bow skills, having previously learnt how to play their violins through plucking the strings.
16.06.16 - Mrs Man from Cornwall Music Service Trust has been working with Year 3 today as part of a music project. Across three sessions they will be composing and learning their own class piece of music to perform at a special concert at Charlestown school next month. How exciting!
September 2016 - If you are interested in signing your child up for instrument lessons please contact the school office. We have drum, recorder and violin lessons available.
