30.09.17 Learning Spanish!

We have had such a busy week. On Monday we enjoyed a visit from the Go Active team who taught us some new games and skills in our PE lesson. Our favourite seemed to be the 'Shrek' game!
On Tuesday we celebrated European languages Day and came to school wearing the colours of the Spanish flag, red and yellow. We had the opportunity to be taught by Mrs Jago in the hall and learnt some Spanish words and the actions to the songs. Then we continued the theme back in the classroom by making our own Spanish flags and learning the colours of the rainbow.
Our story this week was 'The Leaf Man' by Lois Ehlert. We have enjoyed looking at all the Autumn objects the children have been collecting at home (thank you for helping your child to collect the items). We have created our own representations of the 'Leaf Man' by using our natural objects and have used the conkers in our maths area. We have even been developing our fine motor control in the Funky Fingers area by making holes in the leaves and then threading them on to the string.
We have been beginning to learn some phonic sounds and in our groups we have been looking at objects that begin with the sounds 's, a, t, p' and have been sorting them into the correct group. We have been extending this in to our continuous provision and we have been writing the letters in the sand.
Reminders:

  • Please can you write in your child's yellow reading diary every time they practise their sounds with you at home.
  • Snack donation is £1 a week in a named envelope or you can pay in advance (monthly or half termly).
  • Please ensure you child has waterproofs and welly boots in school.
Thank you.
