25.01.18 The Three Little Pigs

We were very lucky last week to have a visit from Chartwells who helped us to make bread. We followed all the instructions to produce our own delicious bread. Yummy!
This week we have been exploring the traditional tale of 'The Three Little Pigs'. We have used props to retell the story in our own words and we have used a variety of construction materials to create our own vehicles for the pigs to get away from the Wolf.
We even used the play dough as cement in between the bricks!
We created our own designs of the characters from the story and used scissors to cut each part of the character and then used glue to stick it back together. Take a look at our paper plate designs; it's amazing what you can do with a paper plate! We explored materials; discussing their properties, textures and their suitability for using them to build a house. We then used the materials for weighing and measuring and used our balance scales to support our learning.

We have been exploring shape and making arrangements with 2D shapes. We have been talking about their properties and their differences. We went around the school looking for shapes in the environment and came back to share with each other what we had found.
