19.10.18 Animals, Art and A fab first half term!

What a fantastic end to the first half term! We have been completing our first little assessments which the children did very especially as it’s the first time they have done them! We have had a visit from the dogs trust and we have been carrying on with lots of our topic work! We are also hoping to finish off with some special biscuit decorating to celebrate how hard we have worked and how well we have settled into Year 1!

We enjoyed a very informative assembly form the dogs trust. They gave us lots of advice on dogs and how they like to be treated. We also enjoyed finding out about how to meet and greet dogs when we are and about so that we can be safe and confident around dogs.

Celebrating books and reading at bedtime stories! A huge thank you to all of the parents who attended the workshops! The children really enjoyed wearing their pjs, snuggling their teddies, listening to stories and enjoying some well-earnt milk and biscuits!

We also enjoyed learning about Paul Klee and using oil pastels for the first time to create our own designs...

In science we learn that all about animals and the groups that they belong to and why...

Carry on coding, we have also creatied our own little undersea programs using code that we have written ourselves. We even enjoyed sharing them with each other...

In our topic work, we have been looking at maps and discussing why they are important! We even went on a virtual walk to create our own maps from school to the park! We really enjoyed chatting about all of the things that we saw on the way and discussing what we should put on our maps.

Finally a huge thank you for all of your support this half term, the children have really settled in well! We hope you all have a fantastic half term filled with fun family time and plenty of rest ready for the next half term and the build up to Christmas!
