18.05.18 The Very Hungry Caterpillar

'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle has been a keen favourite with the children over the last two weeks. We have enjoyed listening to the story and retelling the story independently using props. We have used our phonic knowledge to help us to write sentences about the story and we have made our own representations of the story using different media.
To enhance our learning of the life cycle of a butterfly, we had a delivery of our very own caterpillars to nurture and watch grow. We have been amazed at the daily changes that have happened to our caterpillars and how much they have grown.
To complete the week we celebrated the Royal wedding by learning about the Royal family, exploring weddings and designing our own wedding cakes for a school competition. The overall winner had their cake design made by our very own talented Miss Tregunna! I'm sure you'll agree it looks amazing and it tasted wonderful as well! We had great fun making flags and learning the National Anthem for our street party in the playground. We enjoyed jam and cream scones and a slice of wedding cake. Yummy!
