11.01.19 Happy New Year!

Welcome back everyone!
We hope you all had a great Christmas holiday and enjoyed celebrating the New Year. It has been fantastic to see the children back all refreshed and ready to learn!
Please can we ask that all parents and carers make an extra effort (maybe even a New Years resolution!) to read as often as possible with your children, phonics first (if they are still being tested on these), then words and then book. It really does make a massive difference and the ability to read really does affect every area of your children’s education, thank you.
We had a brilliant start to the New Year in ICT as the children learnt to use a new app to communicate and share information. We recapped on how to load an app, in this case a new app called Doodle Buddy, then the children had to use the necessary tools to draw a picture to show either a gift they had received or something they had done or seen in the Christmas holidays. After they had completed their pictures they then had to send their picture to the teachers iPad ready to share with the rest of the class.
In maths we have been working on using addition and subtraction skills to solve problems. We have also been working on our jottings and ways of representing problems so that we can use them to work out the answer to sums.
In English we enjoyed sharing our holiday news and the general consensus was Christmas dinner was the highlight of everyone’s holiday!
We have also started lots of our new topics, from brilliant bodies to perfect portraits, we really look forward to sharing our fantastic work with you over the coming half term!
Have a fantastic weekend, keep up the great work!
