09.03.17 Musical Maestros!

On Tuesday afternoon Year 2 had a wonderful afternoon of music! The children started by playing a 'hot potato' game where they passed instruments around and played them to a particular rhythm. This encouraged the skills of rhythm and playing and naming different instruments.
The children then learnt that there are different notes in music and that each of these notes represent different beats. The children clapped the rhythms on these note cards and then attached words to them with different numbers of syllables. This is a fantastic starting point for learning to read music and composing our own pieces of music.
Scarlett was so enthused by her afternoon of music that she created her own note cards at home!
