08.12.17 An Elf arrived in our classroom

This week we were very excited to receive 'Special Post' from Father Christmas. He wrote us a letter and asked us to look after one of his new elves. We were very excited to think of a name for our Elf and came up with our own suggestions. We then had a vote to decide which one we would use; we were all very good and only had one vote. The agreed name was 'Timmy'.
Timmy Elf has been very good while he has been with us. He left us a note to help him find his missing elf egg and we went off in search for the eggs. Luckily we found them and they are safe! We investigated how to care for the egg and have been making observations each day in hope that it will hatch.
After our hunt for the Elf eggs we came back to the classroom and created our own maps to show our adventure. We worked together to think about what we saw along the way and drew it on the interactive board and then went off to draw our own on paper.
Timmy Elf has left us invitations to make a mouse footprint place mat and an opportunity to paint our own  wrapping paper with Christmas sponges.
We have enjoyed exploring the Maths area this week where we found reindeer, Christmas pegs and snowmen!
We have continued with our Advent boxes to explore more Christmas symbols. We have been learning to count backwards so we can change our 'how many sleeps til Christmas' countdown clock.
