Bring on the pig festival for Chinese New Year
The children have really enjoyed preparing, cooking and eating Chinese foods. In the morning we made chicken chow mein and in the afternoon we made egg fried rice with chicken and vegetables. This was researched by the children through recipe books and searching through pictures on the Internet. The children selected their favourite ingredients and made a shopping list. Then it was up to them to prepare, cook and taste their ideas.
The children loved this and most of the children asked for more. The children are now looking into where the food ingredients originate from, this followed on from finding out what pigs gave us.
The children have really enjoyed their learning by visiting China through books, pictures, Internet and investigating Chinese children's lives.
I wonder where our learning will take us next week.........
