Ready For School

A Last Resort

The security guard will be in place from next Tuesday so please be aware you will not be allowed in the carpark between 8.00-9.15, and 2.15-3.30.

You must have your disabled blue badge on display and on the dashboard, and you will asked who the registered person is and if they are exiting the car.

Anybody seen not following this code of practice will not be allowed to use the car park thereafter.

Only in very exceptional circumstances can we make any allowances on these rules.

Please avoid using the car park at anytime unless absolutely essential and remember to park outside the school legally and safely.

Please also be aware that this is a last resort after years of trying to control who accesses the car park, this option uses up valuable and scarce school resources. If this does not work the only other alternative is to have the gates locked at these times and no drivers at all will be allowed access, including staff.

Thank you.

The security guard will be in place as of next week, please be aware you will not be able to enter the car park unless you are registered disabled and the driver is exiting the car to collect your child. No other drivers will be allowed into the car park. We would expect you to avoid using the car park at all other times, including nursery pick ups.
In order to keep children and adults safe in and around our car park parents will not be able to use the car park between the hours of 8.00-9.15, and 2.15-3.30.
We would also expect parents to avoid using the carpark at all other times as well as those specified above.
Only those blue badge holders WHO NEED TO EXIT THEIR CAR with or for their children will be able to gain entry at these times, otherwise they will have to park outside of the school*.
Disabled badges will need to be up to date and clearly on display. The drivers will be asked who the disabled person is and whether they are leaving the car. Please do not be offended by this, the security guard will simply be following agreed procedures to make access to our car park, fair, safe, and reasonable.
All other cars will not be allowed into the schools and will be refused entry at the specified times.

SECURITY:There will be a security guard in place starting in a few weeks time.

After an initial period of twice daily supervision the guard will be there on random days, especially rainy ones.
This delay in implementation gives you all consultation time to respond to this health and safety initiative. We are listening and welcome your thoughts, ideas, or queries. Please contact Mr Fielder through the office or via the website. In the meantime please do not use the car park unless you qualify to under the instructions detailed above.
Many thanks.
Board of Directors, Sandy Hill Academy.

*For example there is no entry to those disabled drivers who are dropping off children who walk by themselves from the car to the school, or it is an able bodied adult who will be getting out and accompanying the children or seeing a teacher.
The St Austell Learning Community is a network of Primary and Secondary schools in St Austell and the surrounding area. Each year the schools nominate pupils to be recognised for their achievement. A presentation service was held at St Johns to celebrate and award the children with medals. It was a great event, full of proud parents and pupils! Congratulations to the following children who were nominated by their class teachers this year for the following categories:

Creative/Performing Arts: Tristan Barbery
Physical: Joe Maunder
Language and Literacy: Katy Mumford
Science/ Technology: Coben Hart
Maths: Amelie Trudgian
Citizenship: Jodie Tamblin
Humanities: Cian Potter
