Class R-1

Today in Yr/1 and reception we had a very exciting day.

We all got dressed up as we were invited to a wedding. We wore pretty dresses, smart suits and ties and self made buttons holes. Here we are in the congregation!

Father David arrived and there was a hush as the Brides(escorted by their Fathers), Bridesmaids and flower girls walked down the aisle.

Afterwards we threw confetti and had a celebration meal, with sandwiches and cakes!
Please watch our Wedding video.
Thankyou!

Dear Parents,

We have had a brilliant DT week in Year 1-R!! The children have enjoyed making fruit lollies, fruit salads and a secret sewing surprise....details to be revealed later! As well as designing and making lots of child lead creations.
I have been so impressed with their enthusiasm and knowledge. We have a great class of designers in the making. Special thankyou to Mrs. Chapman for her sewing help!

 Yummy fruit salads-

We also had a brilliant visit to Charlestown Church last week. It was perfect weather and we learnt a lot about our local environment. The children's behaviour was excellent and a good time was had all round. Thankyou again to wonderful Father David and all parent helpers for supporting us.

Holiday homework has been set. Make your entry to the scholastic competition to design a 'Mouthwatering Meal!'
Just a quick polite reminder-please make sure all homeworks have your child's name on. They are getting really good at using the homework red basket now so names on homework is especially important.

After half term we will put our Trolley and Trugs outside the classroom doors, the same as Year
1-2. This should be more convienient for people arriving at differnet times and will allow you and your child to mingle in the playground as soon as you like. I will still be around in the playground, and be opening the doors at the same time as usual. Please feel free to grab me with any information before or after school as usual.

Thankyou very much to all parents/carers for all your support in this busy first half term. You have all been great and the children have settled in really well. Have a fabulous Halloween and Bonfire Night. Rememebr to be safe.

We will look forward to seeing you after the holiday.
Thankyou
Sophia Webster and the Year 1-R team

Our Languages Day was a great success. Thankyou for all the effort you made with the children's outfits, and a special thankyou to our helpers and visitors.
We enjoyed our yummy Paella cooked by Eden Chef Nick and learnt lots of new Spanish words.

We now have a new morning tray in Y1/R. This is a red basket that will be kept on the first desk as you walk into the classroom. You, and your child, can use this for any correspondance such as trip letters, money, homework etc. We will still check bags as much as possible, however this gives us and extra method of commuication.
Thankyou for your help and support, Sophia Webster and Yr1/R

We have had another brilliant week and are really getting into a good routine now.
Well done everyone for joining in with Wake & Shake!

This week we started our topic 'Ourselves'. We looked at body parts and where we live. We have also started our phonics groups and they are going really well!

Our resilient learner this week is Kierra Broadhurst for brilliant joining in always.Well done Kierra!!

Friday 28th September is Languages Day. We will be finding out about Spain with visits from one of Eden's Chef's and other Spanish speaking visitors. If you speak any Spanish and would like to help please let Miss.Webster know. We are all looking forward to dressing in red and yellow for this day too.

Thankyou for your continued support
Sophia Webster and all in Yr1/R class
