Nursery
Welcome back everyone. Over the last two weeks the children in the nursery have been looking for signs of Winter. We have looked at clothes we need to wear in the winter and have been practicing putting them on to go in our igloo.
We have been leaning about the Arctic and the animals and people who live there and have compared them to our own clothes and homes.
At the numeracy area we have also been ordering numbers on the snowmen independently to 10.

We went on a winter walk around the school gardens to look for signs of winter. We found lots of puddles but we didn't find any frost or snow!

In the water tray we have had some ice shapes, the children have enjoyed looking at the ice and describing what it feels like. We had some great suggesting what would happen to it during the day.
In the small world area, we enjoyed having fun and interacting with our friends at the small world tray with the 'ice blocks' (sugar cubes) and 'snow' (salt). This area has generated lots of excited conversations.

During our phonic sessions we have been focusing on sounding out CVC words as c-a-t, h-a-t, m-a-t, d-o-g. The children enjoyed feeding the robot 'Metal Mike' with the correct picture card that he sounded out with his robot talk.
The children have been practicing writing their names.
