This week we have been learning all about Sound. We investigated lots of different sources of sound, playing close attention to what we could feel when sounds were being made. One word sprung up over and over again that noticed was common to them all..Vibrations!
From this we learnt that sounds are made by vibrations we cannot see.

The following day we moved on to looking at sound waves in detail. We now know whether a sound is high or low pitch, loud or soft just by looking at sound waves!

Our next challenge was to design a listening device using everyday, kitchen items.
Here we are in action

Finally, we carried out an experiment to investigate what happens to the pitch when you tap glass jars full of different amounts of water.

We predicted what we thought would happen and considered how we would make it a fair test.
We decided we would keep the type of jar the same, use the same thing to tap it each time and just change the amount of water. Can you remember what we found out?

This week we have worked very hard, completing tests for assessment week.

On Friday we came to school dressed in spots for Children in Need.
During the day we had the chance to play our 'Friendship Games' we created for homework. We had a fantastic time!

On Monday we learnt all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.
We discussed how to stay safe during this exciting event and then made our own air powered fireworks! They looked great and we had such fun launching them in the playground.

On Tuesday we had our first Zumba session this year. We worked up a sweat and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We are continuing our learning about the Tudors. Having previously learnt all about Henry VIII and his six wives, we are now investigating the differences between the lives of the rich and poor in Tudor times. This week we studied lots of different pictures to look for clues as to whether the people in them were rich or poor. Some of us also looked for clues to determine if the people were at work or at leisure. We had lots of great discussion and debates about this.

With the Torchlight Carnival fast approaching we made our own stars to be carried.

Finally this week, we learnt about Remembrance Day, why we wear poppies and why the date is so significant.

Can you remember why we wear poppies?
What happened at 11am, on the 11th Novemeber 1918?

Together we read some lovely poems before writing them up in neat and decorating them. We took them home to share with our familes.

This was one of our favourites:

I'll wear a little poppy,
As red as red can be,
To show that I remember
Those who fought for me.
