Year 2
This week we had PE with Miss Walby. We were practising our ball skills such as controlling and catching a ball as well as accurately passing a ball to someone else.
We started off by walking around the hall, balancing our ball on our racket whilst holding it with two hands. We experimented with different sized rackets and balls, and thought about which one was most difficult and why. Some of us found this task rather tricky but we all persevered!

After this we learnt to play a new game called ‘Bench Tennis’. Two benches were placed down the middle of the hall and girls stood on one side and boys on the other. The aim of the game was to score points by hitting the sponge ball over the bench so that it bounced twice before the person on the other side could catch it or hit it back.

First we tried hitting the ball with a racket and then with our hand. It seemed much easier to hit the ball using our racket in order to score the most points. This was great fun and we were all quite hot and tired by the time our PE lesson was over.
