Year 2
This week we started our geography unit ‘An Island Home’ which is based on the
‘Katie Morag’ stories.
‘Katie Morag’ stories.
We have been looking at the British Isles on a map and learning about the countries
which make up the British Isles. We even learnt which flag belongs to each country.
which make up the British Isles. We even learnt which flag belongs to each country.
In literacy we have read the story of ‘Katie Morag and the Two Grandmothers’ by
Mairi Hedderwick and discussed the characters and setting.
We have thought about the Isle of Struay and its physical and human features and
compared these to the features of the mainland. Also we discussed whether we
would like to live on the Island or not. Here is some of our feelings:
"I would go to the beach everyday" said Jake
"It would be peaceful and quiet there" said Hollie
"I would be lonely" said Toby
"It's calm there and it won't give me a headache" said Lewis W
"There is only one shop!" said Craig
