What a busy final week to the Spring term we have had in Year 1/2!
We have been busy completing our D.T project all about moving pictures.
To begin we investigated and discussed different pictures. We thought about ordinary pictures we find in our class books and how we might improve them by making different parts of the picture move. After this we made our own picture in a collage style and annotated which parts we would move and why. We then practised making lever and wheel mechanisms.
When we had decided on a theme for our moving pictures we designed our picture; then began making. Our background was painted to look like dusk and then we used stencils so that we could paint silhouetted objects. Finally we coloured in different nocturnal animals and used either a lever or wheel mechanism to create movement. Here is one of our completed pictures!
We have also been busy this week with Easter crafts, baking and we even had an Easter egg hunt! Coloured, plastic eggs were hidden around the playground. We had to find one each. We were very good at spotting the hidden eggs. When we all had an egg we went to the outside classroom to sit down together and open our eggs. We all had a chocolate egg.
Some of us also found a chick or sticker inside our egg...this meant that we also won a Golden Ticket!
One lucky person found two chicks inside their egg. This meant they won the main prize.
WELL DONE SHAKIRA!!
Here are sites that we have used in school this week and your child may like to go on at home over the Easter break.
Have a lovely Easter and we look forward to seeing you at the start of the Summer term
