France
On Monday 26th September 2011 it was European Languages Day. In Year 1/2 we learned about France. We came to school wearing blue, white and red- the colours of the French flag. When Miss Bussandri took the register in the morning we said "Bonjour Madam."
Barnaby Bear helped us to learn more about France and what it is like to visit France. We found out that you need to have a passport to visit France and that you can travel to France on a train that goes under the English Channel. It travels very fast (up to 186mp!) People in France may use the Metro to travel around. The Metro is the name of the French underground train system. The capital city of France is Paris. You can see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and The Louvre when visiting. The River Seine runs right through the middle of Paris.

After break we had a French feast. We tried baguette, brie, boursin, ham, grapes, french toast, chocolate crepes and croissants! We remembered to say "Merci." The food was delicious. Here we are enjoying our food!

Before lunch we learned the names of some of the colours in French as well as how to count up to ten!

In the afternoon we sang some French songs. We sang heads, shoulders, knees and toes in French...it was quite tricky!

Finally we had an assembly to share all of the exciting things we had been doing in school! We enjoyed learning about France and will continue to practise and build upon the words we have learned.
