Sandy Hill was built in 1972. It is a one form entry Community Primary School with its own Nursery unit. The main school takes children from five o eleven. The children are organised in eight class units, four Junior (Key Stage 2) and four Infant (Key Stage 1). If you have younger children and want them to attend this school in due course, please let us know as soon as you can and complete an admissions form. Parents who wish to look around the school when considering sending their children here should arrange a convenient time to visit with the Head Teacher.
When the children are eleven years old they transfer to Secondary Education and are allocated a place at either Penrice or Poltair Colleges , although parents may choose to send their children to other than the designated school if a place is available. Meetings for parents and children with Secondary school staff are arranged at Sandy Hill in January.
The Cornwall Academy Trust
On September 1st 2011 the country’s first primary academy chain was born. It consists of three Cornish schools, now academies, joining together in a unique and exciting new partnership that will ensure better provision, richer resources, and higher standards for their pupils. Sandy Hill Academy is a founding member of the trust and now has a very close working relationship with Treverbyn Academy and Padstow School.
